Description:
In 2004, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and NHS Lanarkshire carried out a public consultation on the proposal to establish a West of Scotland Regional Heart and Lung Centre at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital in Clydebank.
The Health Minister gave his full approval to the project in January 2006 with building work starting in June 2006 and completed in 2007
The West of Scotland Regional Heart and Lung Centre is spread over three floors of the Golden Jubilee National Hospital. The facilities include eight operating theatres and four cardiac catheterisation (cath) laboratories - special x-ray rooms for diagnosis of heart conditions and the treatment of blood vessel blockages around the heart.
