Agamemnon Street

Description:

To promote the wider regeneration of Clydebank in advance of some of the main development sites coming on stream, Clydebank Re-built has developed a programme of public realm works to upgrade the entry points and main approach roads into Clydebank and its riverside development areas.

Phase 3 of this programme began in 2006 at Agamemnon Street. In addition to improving security for residents and pedestrians, these works have upgraded Agamemnon Street and its junction with Dumbarton Road and now provide an additional vehicular access to the Golden Jubilee Hospital, easing traffic pressure on the access at Beardmore Street.

The redundant railway bridge over Agamemnon Street has been removed in order to avoid this redundant structure detracting from the locale's enhanced amenity.

New street lighting and parking bays are being installed along with the pavements and carriageway being resurfaced. Feature trees are being planted to enhance the amenity of this route into the Golden Jubilee and the Hospital Gate development area and a programme of lanscaping stretches down to the river.
