Car parks in and around the town centre have also been improved and extended where possible. Traffic restrictions were introduced within the central section of the High Street to control congestion, in response to previous research and a public consultation in 2004. In addition, a number of car parks have been designated as short stay.

The overall aim of the masterplan is to provide a guide for future public and private sector redevelopment of the area including and surrounding the Artizan Centre, to ensure that the town meets modern retailing demands.
