Description:
Aggreko, the world's leading temporary power and temperature
control provider, has developed a £20m manufacturing facility
on the Lomondgate development at Dumbarton.
The new development provides 160,000 sq ft plant facility and
25,000 sq ft of office space on a 16 acre site just off the A82 at
Lomondgate.
The rapid growth of Aggreko's worldwide business over the last
five years led to the major expansion of manufacturing in
Dumbarton. The new facility will employ some 400 people, including
the creation of 110 new jobs designing, developing and
manufacturing power generators and temperature control equipment to
be deployed by Aggreko around the world.
A recent evaluation of the development predicts that when
the whole development is complete it will support around 1400
additional local jobs and that, by 2019, the cumulative impact on
the local economy will be in excess of £450 million.
The £100m Lomondgate project, was launched in 2007, by
Strathleven Regeneration Company, (SRC) a non-profit making
organisation set up by West Dunbartonshire Council and Scottish
Enterprise with the support of Diageo.
The new flagship plant will be used to design, develop and
manufacture power generators and temperature control equipment
which will be deployed around the world.
Lead contractors were appointed September 2010 and started on
site in October 2010.
The main build was completed in September 2011.
Manufacturing was transferred to the new building in March 2012
with an official opening by HRH the Princess Royal following in
April.
