This lesson idea will develop technical and communication
skills, using knowledge and understanding of the dangers of rivers,
applying this knowledge in a real life context. Learners will
research various issues of water danger with the task of creating a
podcast/posters/leaflets for a campaign promoting 'water safety' on
rivers with particular focus on the Clyde waterfront for younger
children.
Broad Outcomes of learning
• Subject knowledge of 'water safety' gained and
enhanced through research on potential hazards and lifesaving
techniques
• Employability skills enhanced - application of
knowledge in a real situation through production of podcast
/posters/leaflets aimed at encouraging responsible behaviour near
rivers and water amongst their peers
• Employability skills developed such as
researching and sourcing information, contributing and working in
teams, reporting and presenting findings to group
• Confidence of working independently from
teacher-led lessons demonstrated through independent research of
