Creative Clyde

As a major part of the Creative Clyde project, Pacific Quay will provide a physical focus for new media, technology and creatively minded businesses in Glasgow and West Central Scotland. Creative Clyde is centred on Glasgow’s waterfront in an area which contains some of the city’s most important assets at the SECC, Pacific Quay and Riverside Museum.

Pacific Quay & SECC, Pacific Quay


Pacific Quay sits on the south side of the Clyde Waterfront and extends to over 90 acres.  Significant regeneration and investment has already been delivered here and Pacific Quay is now home to Glasgow Science Centre, BBC Scotland, Scottish Television, Film City Glasgow, Capital FM Scotland, BIP Solutions, Digital Design Studios and a multitude of other cutting-edge technology and creative companies.

Scottish Enterprise is now the majority landowner at Pacific Quay having acquired Grosvenor Development's interests in March 2010 and an exciting new masterplan has recently been developed for Pacific Quay.  It provides for modern, loose fit, flexible floor space to accommodate a range of different uses including retail, leisure and residential, as well as core offices and workspace for creatively minded businesses. The masterplan makes provision for just over 67,600m² of mixed use space and offers a flexible framework designed to complete the transformation of Pacific Quay into an attractive place to work, live and play.

Scottish Enterprise has already undertaken a major package of civil engineering works to realign the edges of Princes Dock Basin and a first phase of infrastructure and environmental works was completed in February 2008 which provided four fully serviced plots for further development.

The first of those plots was developed in parallel with the infrastructure works and Medius was completed in 2008.  It is now the new Glasgow headquarters for internet procurement company BIP Solutions Ltd.

A second development, The Hub at Pacific Quay, opened its doors for business in February 2009, immediately attracting new tenants such as DDS, Shed Media Scotland, Editworks and is well on the way to establishing a "seriously creative community" at Pacific Quay.

A new Premier Inn Hotel will provide accommodation and facilities in a key location for Creative Clyde.

Current status:

Market interest in Pacific Quay has remained positive despite a difficult economic backdrop and Scottish Enterprise is progressing discussions with preferred developers on several fronts. Planning and design proposals for the next phase of infrastructure works will be developed during 2011-12, which will prepare further plots for development and provide a pedestrian direct link to Film City Glasgow on its western edge.


Pacific Quay is long term development and is expected to be fully developed by 2025.


The completed development is expected to cost around £100 million and will be funded via a combination of private and public sector investment.
