Tax Partner, Wylie & Bisset LLP

Looking forward, the biggest changes to our organisation in the post Covid era will be ....... to be more flexible in approach to the office/home working mix for our staff. For clients, we aim to continue to use the new technology solutions we have implemented during Covid for effective service delivery going forward, albeit integrated with a return to some traditional methods.

The future vision for our organisation in Glasgow is ...... that we have not changed our view on our Glasgow base, which is still the hub of our activities as an independent firm. Our aim is to maintain strong client relationships throughout our entire UK client base, as we have been doing throughout the Covid crisis, and work with them to give them the support they need post Covid, so they can thrive.

The best things about working in Glasgow are ... the available transport links for clients and staff, it is where my children go to school and I can always pop out to the shops if I need anything.

My favourite part of Glasgow is ...... I generally love the whole atmosphere of being in and around Glasgow, but I do like a spa and for that I would choose The Blythswood Spa.

The most satisfying thing about my job is ....  working on tax solutions for my clients, to minimise the legislative tax impact on them.

Financial services is a great career choice because ... it is a diverse sector, encompassing many different specialisms. In tax, it is a constantly changing environment which requires advisers to be innovative and fast paced in approach.

The biggest challenge I have faced in my career to date was .... dealing with a long running investigation case which my then firm had taken over from another accountant, after they had been trying to deal with it for four years.  HMRC were refusing to move on several issues which seemed at odds with the common sense approach. It ended in dispute resolution and thankfully, we managed to bring it to a satisfactory conclusion for all parties.

The businessperson I most admire is ...... there are many to admire and for different reasons, but as a woman in business, I admire Karren Brady. She has never been afraid of admitting her ambitions or to show her competitive nature.

Outside of work, I am passionate about .... my marriage, my children and my dog. I also love music and singing and like to think I can hold a tune.

My approach to achieving work life balance is .... not to be too hard on myself. Sometimes I cannot fit everything in as I would like but I refuse to feel guilty about it. I keep an active "To Do" list at work and an up to date calendar at home and try my best to stick to them.
