Community groups in and around Glasgow have shared donations
totalling more than £1 million from a fund set up by the HFD Foundation and Virgin Money
Foundation.
Since launching in 2020, the Glasgow Community Anchors'
Fund has awarded 49 grants to support 27 different organisations in
their mission to help people across the city. In 2022, 13 grants
totalling £322,000 were pledged to essential community groups,
bringing the total to over £1 million.
The latest funding has been helping support local people
during the cost-of-living crisis.
Maryhill Community Central Hall was awarded £17,000 to
fund emergency energy cards to ensure people's homes are heated and
warm, help people access recycled laptops, mobiles and broadband
connectivity and expand its community fridge offering.
Crossroads Youth and Community Association (pictured) was
awarded £40,000 to support its wide ranging youth and community
work programme in the Gorbals and Govanhill.
Funding of £29,493 to Govanhill Baths' flagship programme,
The People's Pantry will help provide food for over 2,500 people
per week. The People's Pantry also enables people to learn more
about food, sustainability, growing vegetables and
cooking.
