Clyde bridges - young tourist information leaflet

This enterprise project idea will develop a knowledge and understanding of the bridges of the Clyde waterfront. Working in teams as researchers, learners will use research skills to source information and a genre-based approach to writing, to create an information leaflet for a local Tourist Information Centre containing factual information on 'Clyde bridges' for young tourists and visitors to the Clyde area.

• Knowledge and understanding of 'Bridges' topic gained and enhanced 
• Functional writing skills enhanced through focus on language and structures appropriate to genre 
• Employability skills enhanced - application of knowledge in a real situation by working as researchers for the Tourist Board and meeting the needs of their audience 
• Employability skills developed such as researching and sourcing information, contributing and working in teams, reporting and presenting findings to group 
• Understanding of the needs of the customer 
• Confidence in working independently from teacher-led lessons through specific job roles within groups 
• Pupils take responsibility for their learning through cooperative decision making in research teams 
• Learners have developed enterprising skills identified as 4 capacities of CfE
