Description:

Sainsbury's new store at Braehead is the largest Sainsbury's in Scotland. The new 70,000 sq ft store, which replaces the existing centre store, has created approximately 150 new jobs for the local community and has freed up a number of retail units.

A new roundabout has been built at the main entrance to the car park at the west of the site and a second access to the car park. A  recycling centre at the north of the car park has also been built.

The new store is one and a half times bigger than Hampden Park stadium and more than 140 workers were involved in its construction.

Current status:

Work started on site in summer 2009. The store opened to the public on 18th November 2009.

Timescale:

June - November 2009
