Description:

Plans are being developed for the expansion of Braehead Shopping Centre.  The £200m project will not only see new shops, but entertainment space, a hotel and landscaped walkways with improved access to the river.

The expansion would include a new integrated transport interchange for buses and to link in with the new Fastlink service, which will extend from the south side of Glasgow to Braehead and Renfrew.  There are also plans for a department store, a hotel, cafes, restaurants and a new arena for sports, concerts and exhibitions, and a new civic square.

It is hoped that this project will generate up to 2,000 jobs in the construction sector, this will include apprenticeships for young people, and more than 3,000 jobs in retail and leisure once the extension is complete.  A Job Shop will be set up on site to enable as many local people as possible to benefit from these jobs being created.
