Location:

Old Kilpatrick to Dumbarton, Dumbarton

Description:

The Old Academy Building or Old Burgh Hall as it is also known, is one of Dumbarton's category A listed buildings of national architectural and historical significance.

Work began in late 2006, to dismantle the roof and rear wall of the building both of which had been causing ongoing structural problems. A supporting facade retention system is now in place.

The redevelopment of the wider site to the east of the building is also being considered and offers the possibility of providing a new location for the town's civic and community facilities.

Current status:

West Dunbartonshire is identifying plans for the building's reuse. The site has potential as office accommodation.
