Location:
Clydebank & Erskine, Erskine
Description:
The school has been built on the site of the previous Park Mains High which has a current roll of 1350 pupils. It will accommodate pupils from Erskine and the surrounding villages of Bishopton, Inchinnan and Langbank.
The design features a teaching space arranged across three levels and a range of enhanced PE facilities including a four-court games hall, gym, dance studio and fitness suite. A multi-use assembly hall with a main stage and tiered stadium-style seating is also planned. This will accommodate local community activities including drama groups. The central atrium can be used as a dining and social area. This will open on to an outside seating area and playground terraces. A series of 'break-out' spaces outside classrooms are planned and there is also scope for more flexible use of classroom space.
Current status:
Work began on the building in January 2011 and the school was completed and opened in time for the new school year starting in August 2012.
Timescale:
Jan 2011 - August 2012
