Completing during the year...
A number of Clyde Waterfront's prominent
projects will be completed during 2012.
Building work on this major element of the South Glasgow
Hospital is already complete, with the internal fit-out now well
under way and due for completion in March. The
£75m laboratory will be linked to the new adult
and children's hospitals via an underground tunnel.
A new £33m school will provide modern facilities for pupils from
Erskine and the surrounding area. Build work is on
schedule and the new school will be ready for use in August
2012.
Aggreko, the world's leading temporary power and temperature
control provider, is creating a £20m manufacturing facility on
the Lomondgate development at Dumbarton. Building work is complete
with the internal fit-out underway.
The £3.3m refurbishment of Clydebank Town Hall will be
completed in 2012. The bronze statue of Mercury -
which toppled from the top of the Town Hall clock during a fierce
storm in January 1968 - is to take pride of place in the new
lobby.
Well under way...
Major long-term projects will continue to take shape
during year, contributing to the regeneration of the whole
area.
Created by world-renowned architects Foster and Partners, who
also designed the SECC's Clyde Auditorium, Scotland's new national
arena will seat 12,000 and will be the largest entertainments venue
in Scotland. The £120 million development is due to complete in
2013, ahead of the Commonwealth Games.
The South Glasgow Hospital development involves the expansion of
one hospital and the construction of two new hospitals to create
one of the largest hospital complexes in Europe. The £842 million
project is due for completion in 2015.
This major housing development between Renfrew and
Braehead continues to grow. Housebuilders include Miller, Redrow,
Wimpey, McCarthy & Stone, Sovereign
Fairbriar and Best Developments.
House building is now well underway at this location on
the edge of Dumbarton, close to Loch Lomond. Walker, Persimmon and
Taylor Wimpey are all onsite.
Getting started this year...
Projects which will get underway in the course of this
year along the waterfront.
Plans to create a stylish new £10m
restaurant quarter on the waterfront within Glasgow city centre
were approved in the autumn and work on the £10m
project will get going during 2012.
The Scottish Government is providing £40m of funding for
this major transport infrastructure project, which will provide
vital links along the Waterfront. Work will start this year, with
plans for the new system to be in place in time for the
Commonwealth Games.
A masterplan is being developed for phase 3 of the Central
Quay development. This major mixed use development by Goodman will
complete the £200m project and work is likely to start in the
course of the year.
Building work will begin soon on a £4.5 million housing
project in Minerva Street. The development will provide 55 new city
centre flats.
