A major new £50m Tesco store is being proposed for the banks of the Clyde at the western end of the Glasgow Harbour development.
Tesco has just carried out a two-day consultation to give the
public a say on their revised plans.
The supermarket giant unveiled its blueprint for an alternative
100,000 square feet store in Whiteinch after an initial proposal
for the Kelvin Bank store in Beith Street, near Partick Cross,
failed to get off the ground.
The Kelvin Bank site is now earmarked for homes and shops by
Glasgow Harbour Developments.
But before planning applications are submitted, both firms have
issued notices to inform community groups about their
proposals.
They will also jointly host two-day consultation exhibitions at
Partick and Whiteinch libraries on Monday and Tuesday next week to
show how their separate schemes will look.
Supermarket bosses stress the computer-generated images for the
130-acre site on the banks of the Clyde near Thornwood roundabout
may still change.
