Steven Brown

Business Unit Director – Financial Services, Incremental

Looking forward, the biggest changes to our organisation in the post Covid era will be .... how we work together, which I believe will be the biggest change for most businesses.  We have always been a cloud enabled organisation; however, the Microsoft modern workplace technologies have enabled us to stay connected and remain productive and efficient. The pandemic has also made me appreciate the time I get to spend with people in-person which I took for granted before, and I look forward to phasing back in with hybrid working.

The future vision for our organisation in Glasgow is .... to grow in size and capability, in-line with our customer needs, whilst ensuring we are supporting and enabling as many Financial Services organisations in the area as we can.

The three best things about working in Glasgow are ....

  • The people
  • The atmosphere
  • The diversity

My favourite part of Glasgow is .... Ashton Lane and The Ubiquitous Chip; lots of wonderful memories with my family and friends, great nights, great meals.

The most satisfying thing about my job is .... coming to work every day, working with the best team I could ask for, I am incredibly proud of every one of them, and I am privileged to be a part of their career journey.

Financial services is a great career choice because .... there is so much opportunity to innovate, transform and make impact across financial services. The industry also does a great deal of good to help so many people.

The biggest challenge I have faced in my career to date was .... joining Incremental with a career that had been dedicated to infrastructure services and security services. Transitioning to understanding, adopting, and promoting the Power Platform was a steep, but enjoyable learning curve that required dedication and commitment to ensure I was achieving the best possible results for our teams and our customers.

The businessperson I most admire is .... Andrew Carnegie: Scottish born who emigrated to America, became very wealthy through good investment, and was crucial in the development of arts and universities. He gave away 90% of his fortune, whilst paving the way for other philanthropists to use their wealth to do good.

Outside of work, I am passionate about .... my family and friends

My approach to achieving work life balance is .... I work hard and dedicate as much time as I can to my team and those around me, but then take the same approach with my family and friends - I will always be available for them when they need me.
