The Briggait

The wholesale Briggait Fish Market was constructed in 1872-73 and further halls extending eastwards were added in 1899 and 1903.

When the market moved in 1977 the galleried cast iron, glass roofed hall was converted into a shopping development which, however, did not thrive.

Now, a project jointly funded by Glasgow City Council, the Scottish Arts Council Lottery Fund, Scottish Enterprise Glasgow, the Heritage Lottery Fund, Historic Scotland  and others has created artists' studios and exhibition space and offices for creative and cultural organisations. ~Find out more about the Briggait today.
